BILL LUTZ REJOINS ADDISON AS PLAIN ENGLISH CONSULTANT
July, 2009 - Addison is pleased to welcome back Dr. William D. Lutz as our lead plain English consultant. In this role, he will collaborate with Addison clients to simplify complex financial and legal documentation for annual reports, mutual fund prospectuses, the compensation discussion analysis section of the proxy statement, and other disclosures.

Bill has dual expertise as a securities lawyer and plain English expert focused on simplification and transparency. He has significant experience in working with the Securities and Exchange Commission on disclosure issues and has frequently provided advice on SEC rulemaking. Most recently, Bill served as deputy director of the SEC's Office of Interactive Disclosure, where he prepared a plan for simplifying the SEC's disclosure regime. He also contributed to the new mutual fund Summary Prospectus regulations that become mandatory in 2010.

From 1995 to 1999, Bill played an important role in advancing the SEC's Plain English initiative by preparing the SEC's Plain English Handbook, a manual to help mutual funds and public companies write clear and understandable SEC filings. During that time he also developed the profile prospectus, which has now become the summary prospectus. He is Emeritus Professor of English at Rutgers University and the author of numerous books and articles on the importance of plain-language disclosure. He currently serves as president of the Plain Language Association International, an organization of plain language experts in over two dozen countries.
